Just an update, I'll put it in dot points to keep it short.
- Change battle point calculation...
- Random Bonus is now between 1 and 100 not 1 and 300
- Base is now at 216 not 186 (to make up for the loss in bonus)
- Losing no longer returns a point deduction, you now earn 1/8th of the winners return. So its usually < 100 points
Reason: Unlike the Japanese system, this system will most definately be used less and have less users... so having people move backwards is definately not favourable. I've also found in testing at our tournaments that some of the newer players are getting ripped hard in points, they get a lucky win and eventually it'll dwindle back down to the original value.
Future thoughts: Currently its 1/8th may change to 1/10th

- Setup Executable(!)
- Now comes in an executable setup file for ease of use installation
- If you overwrite your old files, it will confirm that you want to OVERWRITE your STATTRACK.FDB (where all your data is kept... save file)
- You can decline and it will skip over it
- Also it looks like the program has a higher production value now instead of a rar file

- Player Names
- Can now include spaces (Thanks to Kitch907 for the input!)

Okay, so I've been working on this a lot. Its almost completely different to the last time I posted about it... Well completely different from my view point

I've watched it go from a child to being as strong as an Oxe.
Anyway things that have changed:

• The whole database!
• It now tracks characters (Specific to Street Fighter IV) so you can have the same name but track between players
• There is an undo capability in the Results screen
• There is color
• There is a splash screen on startup for a second
• The way you enter matches is now in combo boxes with a suggest and append guessing system to what you're typing so you dont have to type the whole name exactly every time
• Auto refresh on matches sorta...
• NO LONGER TIED TO C:\CARDSYSTEM YAAAAAAAAAAAY(!!)

So much done. So happy with how it's going.

Blank Database File

You shouldnt need the database file with the undo feature.
Although you might want to have different database files for different "events" or something, just rename it to the event name when you're done and you should be able to swap them in and out by renaming and stuff.

I should mention that the Undo feature isnt tight. Its very iffy and sometimes doesnt get it spot on. Sometimes it's out by 1 battlepoint for one of the participants and it also screws over the losers current streak, so use it as a last resort

Good excuse to update this program!

Quick run-down on the things changed updated etc:

• Battle points cant drop below zero now, which was in the inital release but somehow it wouldnt quit so I made sure it works now
• Auto Refresh (!!) this is probably the best part of this update, no need to keep clicking refresh and stuff. All done for you now.
• Changed the About page slightly to mention my website: PyroZeroX
• There is now an Icon for it, so it doesnt look like a generic Windows form application >_>

So really there isnt too much changed, but I think this was a nice update because of the Auto-Refresh part.
It makes it all work together nicely unlike the stupid refresh button work around which was out of laziness.

I think this brings me to the end of this project... There isnt too much else I want to add without it becoming bloated or stupidly complex. Hopefully it all works for everyone.

So lets start with the IBL Stuff.

I've been to 3 IBL position interviews (Its pretty much an internship).
One with Agilent Technologies doing regression testing, another with Seimens eBusiness divison doing something with HTML and Javascript and the last with Pegboard software which is doing ASP stuff and working on the content management system.

Really looking forward to hearing from any of them to be honest. Would like to take a year away from Uni so that I can earn some money and get some industry experience.

Uni work is a drag, writing reports about Database programming and everything to do with ADO.NET and JDBC. Theory on the Three modeled layer and everything in between which includes Hibernate, concurrency, security blah blah

I also did a nice Web version of the Battle Card System (check previous entry for details about the BCS) which I cant really upload and host anywhere but I guess I might be able to put something up on youtube or something showing people how it works.

On the 5th of November I turned 20 years old.
This could be seen as a good or a bad thing because I'm getting older and older but also its a celebration. Makes you think how fast time files. I had a nice meal cooked by Sinead which also included a very very nice cake.
Got some really nice presents, mainly money from everyone which is really good. Money is good.

Oaks day!
So we all went to Oaks day on the 5th of November. We obtained Champions  marquee tickets from Sineads grandfather (Thanks!) so we got up really early (okay...8:45 is considered really early for me) and suited up. We jumped on the train and headed towards the race track. There was heaps of people there. We got free food and free drink with our own waiters and stuff. The food there was really really good. I really enjoyed the chicken sandwiches and just about everything else. Salad, Rogan Josh, Mini tiny sushi, pizza, Icecream, beer, pepsi, sausage rolls, chicken pieces, tiny tiny kebabs, salt and pepper squid.

Im not one to bet on the horses but everyone else did some betting and did pretty well, having a fair share of wins and losses. We took a lot of photos which are up on Facebook I think. We watched 2 races and watched all the sunburned "common folk" move around on the grass. So lucky we had those tickets...

Coming up on Exams now so not much time for anything else.
Trying to learn how to play Tekken 6 but its sorta tough with not much learning material and no one to learn off. Currently watching Terminator Salvation which is pretty cool so far, this massive report is destroying a 7/11 I think.

Hmm... Hopefully after Exams I can fix up the website with something nice and good and do some more stuff with this blog...that'll do for now...

The Battle Card System is a mock "card" system which imitates the ranking functionality of Japanese Street Fighter IV arcade cabinets. In Japan you can aquire a card which is tied to you mobile phone (I found that part the most impressive ) which tracks your wins/losses, gives/takes "Battle Points" and lets you accumulate "Zenny" which is like in-game currency used to buy titles and costumes for characters. It also has trival things like a Gamertag style name input and motto. I only wanted to get the stat tracking functionality, the motto and zenny stuff is irrelevent to me

According to a Usability class I took, console applications are "scary" and "unfriendly". I happen to like doing stuff in consoles so it appealed to the geek side of me but I wanted to share this with people that weren't into programming or console applications.

So then came the ASP page which is really plain, I dont like having to do styling and stuff, I'm not the most stylish person in the world so I find it hard to colour stuff in a pretty fashion. I was more interested in getting the functionality out of it. I completed that, but its like, half cooked. Half the functionality is missing because I got lazy and uninspired and it looks really ugly

Then I finally worked up the courage to have a crack at a Windows Form Application, which is turned out to be sorta like an ASP page. Infact it was pretty similar. I was really happy with how it started to unfold, got message boxes going around with confirmations and grid views showing things.

It currently does the following:

• Adding Player
• Submitting a match between two players
• Showing all submitted matches
• Showing statistics for the individual
• Shows the "leaderboard" so to speak

Installation guide:

• Unpack to c:\cardsystem THIS IS A VERY IMPORTANT STEP
• Have fun with it, unfortunately because of the design, you cant delete players. In the console application you can, but I left out that function because once the player has been in a match, you cant easily delete it, because it effects the other player it is then tied to.
• If you also download the blank database file, you can use this to reset the whole system (sorta). It just wipes all the data so that you can start fresh if you feel the need to.
